TCR announces auditions for TCR’s 2023 holiday production of The Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum, music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, with additional background music by Herbert Stothart.
Auditions will be held at Theatre Cedar Rapids Sunday, August 20th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and Monday, August 21st from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Callbacks and a dance call will be held Tuesday, August 22nd from 6:00-10:00.
Rehearsals will begin in mid-to-late September. Rehearsals will typically be held five days a week, including potential weekend days. Not all cast will be called to all rehearsals. We will have a “days off” outlined schedule to cast members no less than two weeks prior to the first rehearsal.

ABOUT TCR’S PRODUCTION of THE WIZARD OF OZ
The Wizard of Oz will be directed by Angie Toomsen, Choreographed by Megan Robinson, and Music Directed by Janelle Lauer, with scenic and lighting design by S. Benjamin Farrar, and costumes by Jess Helberg.
It’s the magic and wonder you know, newly refreshed for you by the imaginative minds and creative production team at TCR. Expect an exciting, lush, invigorating aesthetic that feels both warmly familiar and wildly new!
The Wizard of Oz will be presented in the TCR Auditorium, November 17th – December 18th, 2023. Performances take place Thu – Sat at 7:30 p.m., and Sun at 2:30 p.m. with potential added dates between Nov 17th and Dec 17th.
