Cabaret
Feb. 10 – Mar. 5, 2023 / Auditorium / Musical
Book by Joe Masteroff, Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood
Arguably one of the greatest musicals ever written, Kander & Ebb’s masterpiece won eight Tony Awards in 1967 and remains as relevant today as ever. The score contains some of the most memorable and electrifying tunes in all the musical theater. Songs like “Maybe This Time,” “Willkommen,” “Mein Herr,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and, of course “Cabaret.” Daring, provocative and exuberantly entertaining, Cabaret explores the dark and heady life of Bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Combine the story with a red-hot score and it’s easy to understand why Cabaret has remained prolific for over 50 years. Recommended for ages 17+

Rock of Ages
June 23 – July 23, 2023 / Auditorium / Musical
Book by Chris D’Arienzo
Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer. Recommended for ages 14+
