I started taking dance class when I was 2 years old. When I was 11 years old I started to see dance as a part of my future. I bounced around to a few studios until graduation, including Art in Motion, Dancer’s Edge, and Donna’s Dance Studio respectively, as well as participating in my high school dance team for four years. After high school I joined the CR Spirits and danced with them for four years while taking classes at the University of Iowa. I’ve participated in Master Classes in Chicago and Los Angeles and I’ve been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pom, lyrical, and musical theatre.
For TCR, I have choreographed Heathers and Elf. I also assisted Alvon Reed with Newsies, Peter Pan, co-choreographed Annie with Erin Helm and assisted Alvon Reed on 9 to 5 for Revival Theatre.
Approach/Style…
My number one goal when creating movement and working with volunteer performers is that the experience is enjoyable and that they feel proud of the work they produced. That mentality drives my direction. I like to challenge people and help them realize that they are capable of more than they may have originally thought. My favorite rehearsals are the ones that, by the end, everyone is smiling but tired. We know we worked hard and got a lot done but also had fun in the process.
