Viewpoints: Body Awareness and Spontaneity for the Actor (Ages: 18+)
December 1 @ 1:00 pm| $20 – $25
The Viewpoints is a technique of improvisation that grew out of the postmodern dance world. Ann Bogart adapted it into an improvisational system that trains an actor to use their body in TIME and SPACE to create meaning. Viewpoints are points of awareness that a performer or creator has while working. They provide a vocabulary for thinking about or acting upon movement/gesture.
Bo Frazier has trained with Ann Bogart, the founder of The Viewpoints theory, at SITI Company in New York City.
In this workshop, you will start to think of how you use your body in completely new ways on stage. Your fellow actors will make offers, accept offers, extend moments (such as repeating a gesture or a shape) and advance the dramatic. It is through this improvisation that you will create dramatic meaning with just your body. This is an intensive workshop to teach you the foundations of Viewpoints for actors, but open to all theatre makers/creators/directors wishing to expand their physical awareness or learn new tools for future rehearsal processes.
