More about Out of Bounds by Jennifer Fawcett with Working Group Theatre:
Run time: 90 minutes. Age Range: 12+

When 14-year-old Amy starts at a new school, everything seems to be going well… until she answers a dare that goes viral. Soon the dark side of social media is revealed and Amy is bullied online, in texts, and at her school. No longer feeling safe, her frustrated mother seeks any way to stop the threats against her daughter, which drudges up painful memories of her own adolescent trials.

Created from conversations with real teens, parents and teachers from our community, Out of Bounds explores the world of cyber-bullying and the complicated choices young people make when navigating the politics of friendship. Originally commissioned and presented by Hancher Auditorium (Charles Swanson, Executive Director, Jacob Yarrow, Programming Director) and winner of the prestigious NEFA National Theatre Project Award, Out of Bounds is must-see theater for educators, parents, and teens as they seek to understand and protect our youth.

This play deals with tough issues impacting both youth and the parents and teachers who support them. Viewer conversation is encouraged. Visit stopbullying.gov for national and local resources.

“This stunning play, crafted from real-life stories, is designed to not only bring this burgeoning problem out of the shadows but to spur a community dialogue seeking solutions to a very real problem,” said Diana Nollen in The Gazette.
