Let’s Get LIT!: “Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2, & 3” (Ages: 21+)
June 19 @ 5:30 pm
| $5Event Navigation
Join us June 19 for an enlightening conversation about “Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2, & 3,” by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks. This Odyssey-inspired epic was a Pulitzer finalist itself in 2015, when the committee described it as “a distinctive and lyrical epic about a slave during the Civil War that deftly takes on questions of identity, power and freedom with a blend of humor and dignity.”
“Father Comes Home From the Wars, Parts 1, 2, & 3,” was specially selected to coincide with Juneteenth, an annual celebration that marks the abolition of slavery in the United States.
Let’s Get LIT! is TCR’s monthly book-club for plays. Led by writer, director, and educator Cavan Hallman, attendees of this program read the script before meeting for a casual guided discussion. This is a great program for people looking to expand their knowledge of outstanding plays, increase their theatrical vocabulary, and anyone else who loves plays and literature!
