TCR Announces Video Auditions for Fun Home

TCR Production

TCR announces video auditions for TCR’s 2025 Spring production of Fun Home, music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel.

Auditions will be accepted by video submission only. Callbacks will be scheduled as needed or callback videos may be requested.

Rehearsals will begin mid February. Rehearsals will typically be held five days a week, including potential weekend days dependent on cast availability. Not all cast will be called to all rehearsals.

ABOUT TCR’S PRODUCTION OF FUN HOME

Fun Home will be presented, fully staged and choreographed, with the orchestra onstage. Fun Home will be directed by Angie Toomsen, choreographed by Megan Helmers, with music direction by Janelle Lauer, costumes by Jess Helberg, and scenic and lighting by S. Benjamin Farrar.

When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her unique childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires. Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes.

Fun Home will be presented in the TCR Auditorium, March 27th – April 6th, 2025. Performances take place Thu – Sat at 7:30 p.m., and Sun at 2:30 p.m. There is a potential for added shows within the span of the currently scheduled run (no weekends added).

Content advisory: Fun Home contains strong language, mild adult themes, verbal abuse, and conversations/depictions of suicide.
