TCR Announces New Executive Director

Theatre Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS – The Board of Directors of Theatre Cedar Rapids is pleased to announce that Katie Hallman has accepted the position of Executive Director beginning March 16, 2017. Hallman was chosen from a national field of nearly 40 candidates who were attracted to TCR because of its reputation as one of the region’s largest and longest-operating community theatres.

“After an exhaustive national search we are very happy to have Katie join our already outstanding team,” said TCR Board President, Todd Bergen. “We were excited to find someone with Katie’s diverse professional experience that also has strong ties to the community.  This positions TCR for continued success going forward.”

Hallman, a native Iowan from Lisbon, earned her undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and her Master of Arts in Music Business from New York University in New York City.

Hallman’s professional background includes fund development and box office positions with the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and as Director of Concert Operations and Associate Producer for Manhattan Concert Productions in New York. At MCP, she managed hundreds of guest artists and produced performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and other venues across the U.S. Most recently, Katie has served as Managing Director at Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré, a professional non-profit theatre in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Theatre Cedar Rapids will introduce Executive Director Katie Hallman to the community at the 2017-18 Season Announcement event and reception on March 16, 2017.

“Growing up in Eastern Iowa, I know first-hand the essential role Theatre Cedar Rapids plays as a champion for the performing arts in our region,” said Hallman. “I am honored to serve this fantastic institution as Executive Director, and to return home.”
