More than 600 volunteers are involved in producing a season of shows and events at TCR.
On stage, backstage, out front or behind the scenes, there are dozens of ways to become involved as a volunteer.
No matter what your age, experience or schedule you can find something that is perfect for you.
Here are some of the ways to enjoy the TCR volunteer experience...
Actors, singers, dancers... there are plenty of performance opportunities for all! With a season of comedies, musicals, dramas and even a classic or two, performers of all ages and every level of experience can “tread the boards” at TCR.
Open auditions are held throughout the year, usually about two months prior to each production. A read‑thru is held one week before the audition to help you become familiar with the show. Scripts may be checked out from the business office along with specific audition information.

This is a another great opportunity for those looking for an occasional evening or day‑time project. Volunteers assist Box Office staff in selling tickets to the public.
Help is needed weekdays between 11 and 5, and Saturdays from 9 to 12:30. You can also work the will‑call window before evening and matinee performances. To sign up contact the TCR Box Office, 366‑8591.
Among the many activities of The Volunteer Board are assisting with the TCR newsletter The Marquee, organizing our year‑end volunteer celebration Ovations, organizing “Adopt‑A‑Show” volunteers to provide treats for casts & crews, hosting auditions, read‑throughs and orientations, providing channels for volunteer communication, assisting with post‑show surveys and working with the staff on special projects.
We are always on the look‑out for new, enthusiastic members! If you are interested, contact the 2009‑10 Volunteer Board Chair, Brad Fritz, bradleywfritz at gmail.com, or TCR Program Coordinator Erica Jo Hoye, erica at theatrecr.org, or call 366‑8592.
Our largest single group of active volunteers, more than 250 individuals, are TCR Hosts. They take tickets, serve concessions and assist our patrons to their seats. You generally work one performance per show, though many enjoy working more.
This is a wonderful way to be a part of TCR and see the shows for free! To sign up, contact the TCR Box Office, 366‑8591.
If you are free during daytime hours, Rob can always use an extra hand to answer the telephone, assist with mailings, update the script library and archives and do other administrative projects in the business office.
Contact Event Services Manager Kate Knutson, kate at theatrecr.org, or call 366‑8592.
The Assistant Director (AD) works hand‑in‑hand with the director during the rehearsal process. ADs help with research, administrative details, and assist in carrying out the production concept.
The Stage Manager (SM) takes charge once the show is on stage. The SM heads up the tech crews, calls cues, and in short, manages the run of the show. AD/SM can be the same person or two different volunteers.

The sound board operator runs a multi‑channel mixing board to control music, sound effects and body microphones.
