Spend time in Paris at Maxim’s and the pretend land of Pontevedro, where economic woes weigh heavily on the country. Operatic hi-jinks prevail as the citizens of the principality try to keep the wealthy widow, Hanna, from marrying one of the can-can loving Parisian bachelors so her fortune remains in Pontevedro. Lehar’s luscious, waltz-filled score includes the haunting “Vilia,” “I’m Off to Chez Mazim’s” and “The Merry Widow Waltz.”
