Paraphrase Theater will present WITNESSES, a one-man show starring Jonathan Swenson, at TCR’s Grandon Studio Oct. 15-24.
In this very dramatic yet very personal performance, Swenson portrays eight characters (historical and imagined) as they each respond to Jesus. Through the eyes of these characters (both comic and serious) the audience is invited to see Jesus from a fresh perspective… not as a cold and distant figure, but as one who was intimately involved with the nitty-gritty of life.
Written by Curt Cloninger, “Witnesses” is an intimate and inspirational night of theater, performed in “black box” style in Theatre Cedar Rapids new Grandon Studio. (Entrance to the studio is via the first set of steps in TCR’s main lobby. Alternate elevator access is available.)
The show features actor Jonathan Swenson, best known to TCR audiences as Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof) and Daddy Warbucks (Annie). Jonathan is also a frequent performer in the Cedar Rapids Follies. This past winter he was the guest artist at SPT’s Modern Salon at Brucemore.
Performances will also feature special music by Guest Artist Jessy Vera.
(The Oct. 22nd performance will feature another artist, TBA.)
